The country that starts with Z!

I am eagerly following what is happening in Zimbabwe after the old president Robert Mugabe is finally out of office! I sincerely hope that his successor Emmerson Mnangagwa can lead Zimbabwe on the right track, with healthy growth, stability, and cutting all sectors that can benefit the country's people. Zimbabwe is naturally a fantastically beautiful and exciting country, with lots to offer. Victoria Falls (locally called Mosi-oa-Tunya - "the thundering cloud") is nothing short of magnificent, mighty and cascading, and officially one of the 7 natural wonders of the world.

At its peak, when the rain masses have collected in the catchment and spill over the waterfall, more than 12,000 cubic meters of water have been measured per second, which falls 108 meters - this is more than twice as much as Niagara Falls at its peak! Located right on the border of Zamiba, close to Namibia's Caprivi Strip, as well as Botswana's Chobe National Park, this area of Zimbabwe has been well visited and supplies have come across borders when they could not be obtained locally. Zimbabwe has had its crises and although the land reformation was necessary, it has been brutal and the country has experienced massive decline, insane inflation and gross maladministration. I am quite sure that the country will get the long-awaited stability and hope that they will face a good era. Zimbabweans, in general, are hardworking, loyal and an incredibly friendly people.

"Zimbabwe is every adrenaline junkie's mecca. Throwing yourself off the 111 meter high bridge, or trying your hand at the masses of water on the wildest river rafting trip on the Zambezi... - may the Nyaminyami River God be with you! In Victoria Falls there are regular elephants in the main street... and it was here that I literally collided with someone on a bicycle - meaning ME on a bicycle ;) "
